- BA (Hons) in Psychology from University of Lancaster 1993-1996
- Numerous assistant psychology posts in a range of settings in order to develop experience in working psychologically across the life span, including working in a secure rehabilitation unit with adults with learning disabilities, early intervention with vulnerable families in the community, and secure hospital with adults with mental health problems and offending behaviour.
- Doctoral training in Clinical Psychology at University of Birmingham 2003 – 2006. As part of the training undertook a one-year placement in a specialist service for looked after children.
- Clinical Psychology post working in local YOI, providing assessment and treatment for young people and advice/ guidance to their networks of carers both inside the prison and in the community. 2006– 2008.
- Clinical psychology post with specialist community CAMHS team for young offenders 2008 to 2013. Providing a therapeutic mental health service to a child and adolescent forensic population and specialist advice and consultation services to the networks of professionals surrounding them.
- Concurrent Clinical Psychology post working in local YOI, providing fuller range of services; direct work to young people, liaison and advice on future management to community YOS for these young people, consultation and training to prison and civilian staff 2011 – to current day.
